Find Work after Debt Relief

Bankruptcy will bring you to your financial knees. Credit card debt leaves you so despondent, you may feel like you can never overcome the specter of your financial transgressions. This melancholy, anxiety and depression may result in poor work performance and, eventually, job loss.

If you have lost your job due to bad credit debt, don’t despair. You can, you must, get back in the saddle. Searching for a job can be an arduous chore, but there are ways to make the experience easier.

The first thing to realize is that you are not alone, it is not too late to recover and you are more than capable of getting back on a career track and fixing your financial affairs. Before you begin this process you must make a commitment to yourself to work hard every day to find a great job.

Here is a list of tips for finding a new job:

  • Polish up your resume. Make sure to include all the important and impressive details from your previous work experiences. But be careful! Lying or embellishing your resume can cost you a great job. Have someone look over your resume for grammatical errors.
  • Brush up your skills. Are you a writer? Accountant? Designer? Whatever your trade, ensure you’re up to date on the latest trends and technology. This is important for interviews, as you don’t want to sound antediluvian in your field.
  • Practice your interview. Scour the internet for popular interview questions and practice answering them with a friend or family member. You need to sound confident during interviews, so be prepared to answer tough questions about your past.
  • Put the word out. Talk to friends, family and former co-workers about your situation. Tell them you are looking for a job and would appreciate their recommendations. Before you ever look at a job board, make some real-life human connections; these are usually more fruitful than internet job searches.
  • Once you’ve gotten all your ducks in a row, polished up your resume, worked on your job skills and shored up your network, then you can start looking online and in the newspaper for job listings. Web sites like Craigslist, monster and hotjobs are good places to start.

These are very basic tips for getting started. Remember that you have to get out there and put in a lot of effort to recover from your problems with bad credit. Debt relief is a long process, along with finding and keeping a job. Stay diligent and you will be fine.
