Debts Can Be Settled

Bankruptcy will not help you to resolve debt caused by child support. Similarly, you are out of luck for most tax debts, student loan debt and back alimony payments. These debts cannot be eliminated through bankruptcy. Strict laws govern what can and cannot be absolved with bankruptcy. Our debt-relief service, however, can reduce your credit card debt in less than three years - without the hassle and red tape of bankruptcy.

Our debt-relief service works with creditors to reduce your credit card debt balance. By talking with your creditors, we can reduce your credit card debt. That way, you can typically be out of debt in 12 to 36 months. While you can lower your debt balance through bankruptcy, some types of debts will remain.

Student loan debt, back child support, alimony and most tax debts survive bankruptcy. You can actually try to get rid of student loan debt through bankruptcy if you show it creates an immense burden on you. However, that exception is rarely accepted. Debts from income taxes can be eliminated under bankruptcy if the taxes were filed three years ago. The tax assessment must be a minimum of 240 days old and the tax return can’t be fraudulent.

Debts arising from fines for criminal or traffic violations cannot be erased through bankruptcy, either. Handling debts piecemeal is not a good approach. Our credit card debt-relief service, which includes a certified call center, manages more than $1.2 billion for our clients. We are trusted by more than 70,000 people to help eliminate credit card debt.

Bankruptcy is a complicated process that is best avoided anyway. Laws passed in 2005 make it harder to get rid of debts through bankruptcy. Bankruptcy filers are now subject to credit and financial counseling before they file and just before their case is resolved. People filing for bankruptcy will pay more in attorney fees (due to the complexity of bankruptcy changes) and filing fees. Filing fee cost more than $300.
